ERIN – The town has reaffirmed its commitment to green community standards in a new notice of motion.
Brought forward by Coun. Bridget Ryan at an Erin council meeting Thursday evening, the town has approved a new motion to create green community standards that build "resilient" climate change measures while retaining the town's natural heritage assets.
"Erin is already our home and is already green, let's keep this momentum going and build on this unique position and be the fresh breath of air on the shoulder of the GTA, setting the standard for leadership and for a healthy, economically viable, liveable, active community," said Ryan, during the meeting.
Unanimously approved, Ryan said examples of potential future action include developing a smart green AI "innovative in green and industrial growth," capitalizing on the town's green natural heritage and developing a sustainability charter policy that ensures town decisions are "filtered through a green lens for the economic and personal benefit of all citizens and businesses."
