Burlington’s city council members salaries in 2023 totalled $733,494 between the seven members.
Mayor Marianne Meed Ward earned $180,054, plus an additional $20,098 in general expenses for a total of $200,152. According to the 2022 Sunshine List, Meed Ward earned $191,761 that year.
Ward 2 councillor and deputy mayor of community engagement and partnerships Lisa Kearns is the second highest earner on the list, with a salary of $84,430, and $10,000 in general expenses totalling $94,430.
Ward 1 councillor Kelvin Galbraith, Ward 3 councillor Rory Nisan, and Ward 4 councillor Shawna Stolte each earned $84,190, with varying amounts of general expenses.
Ward 6 councillor and deputy mayor for recreation and community services Angelo Bentivegna’s salary was $79,163, and his general expenses totaled $9,482 for a combined $88,646.
Paul Sharman, councillor for Ward 5 and deputy mayor for strategy and budgets, comes in with the lowest salary at $69,330, and $8,112 of expenses for a total for $77,442.
Total salaries for each of the seven council members was $665,545, and total general expenses was $67,948.
